Description
Provides temporary safe homes where parents may voluntarily have their children cared for during a family crisis. Crisis situations may include homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, drug addiction, medical illness, hospitalization, or any other crisis circumstance that makes it difficult for the parents to care for their children. The staff offers support by helping new and previously helped clients find needed resources for their families. Safe Refuge for Children & Families is a faith-based organization that recruits its volunteers through churches. These local churches support the families hosting the children of the families in crisis. The Safe Refuge volunteer host families are screened (background checks, home studies, training, etc.) and approved to be safe. This is a voluntary program and the families in crisis always retain all of their parental rights and custody.
