Provides public library services at 26 branches including a diverse selection of lendable materials including, books, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and DVD's. Branch libraries offer a variety of programs that encourage literacy for all ages, celebrate the arts & culture, feature local and nationally recognized authors and other speakers and performers. Other free programs and events include STEM (science-technology-engineering-art-math), performers, crafts, reading with dogs, movies, homework help, book clubs and games. Responsible for the administration and operation of Kensington unincorporated city services. Kensington has two voter-approved assessment or special districts; the Kensington Police Protection and Community Services District (KPPCSD), which provides law enforcement, recreation, and garbage services, and the Kensington Fire Protection District (KFPD), which contracts with the city of El Cerrito to provide fire protection service.
