Mental Health Related Support Groups | Office for Peer and Family Empowerment - CC Health

Educates, empowers, and motivates people navigating behavioral health services to engage in their own individual wellness, recovery, and resiliency and become active in the community. Facilitates SPIRIT program which trains people with lived experience of behavioral health challenges (peers) and family members who have navigated services in support of their loved ones necessary skills to become peer support specialists in the system of care. Offers both a classroom and an on-the-job internship component, and students receive nine hours of credit through Contra Costa College. Coordinates community engagement initiatives focused on reducing stigma and discrimination and promoting social inclusion for peers and family members. Organizes educational groups at county-operated behavioral health programs and community-based organizations based on the Taking Action for Whole Health and Wellbeing curriculum. Offers Overcoming Transportation Barriers Flex Funds project to provide one-time financial assistance to peers and parents and caregivers of children for transportation-related needs to improve access to appointments at county-operated behavioral health programs. Convenes monthly stakeholder meeting to educate the public on behavioral health community crisis response.
