Eligibility
Hair piece must be 10 inches long from tip to tip. Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable. Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid. Hair that has been bleached is NOT usable and that includes hair that has been highlighted. Hair that is swept off of the floor is NOT usable. Hair that is shaved off and not in a ponytail or braid is NOT usable. Dread locks, wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair are NOT accepted. Hair that is layered is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches long. Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches.

If you wish acknowledgement for your donation, you must fill out the hair donation form on the website.

Application process
Place 10 inches of ponytail or braid that is clean and COMPLETELY dry in a plastic bag and then inside of a padded envelope with appropriate postage. Mail donations to Locks of Love mailing address.

Provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 21 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Donors can cut their own hair as long as they follow the guidelines listed on the website.
