Counsels clients on the general legal framework of living in the United States, such as proper documentation for employment, due process, consumer rights and the necessity of auto insurance. Also provides information and referral for persons with questions about immigration. Offers immigrant related workshops on U Visa, VAWA, and deportation.

Provides legal representation for indigent persons accused of crimes in Contra Costa County. Offers assistance with clearing prior criminal records through the Clean Slate Program. Provides rapid response, legal services, and community education project to support safety and justice for immigrant families through the Stand Together Contra Costa Program. Represents youth in long-term placement (group homes) and long term in-custody programs as well as youth in extended foster care proceedings through the Juvenile Justice Program. Provides incarcerated, convicted, and sentenced individuals access to different kinds of post-conviction relief and resentencing, made available through recent state legislation.

Provides referrals to private practicing lawyers in specific areas of the law, as well as local government, consumer, and public service agencies. Trained legal interviewers screen clients to determine the location and language requirements for the most convenient referral possible. If it is determined that a lawyer's advice is recommended, clients are scheduled for a thirty-minute consultation with the appropriate attorney in the area. If a legal consultation is not necessary, clients are referred to an appropriate organization or agency in the area. Clients having a fee dispute with their attorney, must contact the State Bar of California Mandatory Fee Arbitration Program.

Provides a special virtual Superior Court session for homeless individuals to resolve outstanding Contra Costa County infraction tickets that rise out of the condition of homelessness. Infractions only, no misdemeanors, felonies, parking tickets. See eligibility for details.
