Help's customers who are facing issues with their utility company and need support in their advocacy to resolve issues related to their utility service. Works at the intersection of regulatory and legislative policy ensuring that customers of California's major investor-owned utilities receive quality affordable energy, phone and broadband. Agency does not provide direct financial assistance.

Employment Discrimination Assistance | Legal Aid - Grace Bible Fellowship of Antioch

Provides help with problems such as minimum wage and overtime violations, failure to pay for work performed, or refusal to grant meal and rest breaks. Also provides counsel to clients regarding workplace discrimination based upon race, national origin, gender, pregnancy, disability, language proficiency and immigration status, and offers information regarding unemployment compensation filings and appeals. People in need of assistance may call to make an appointment. Some in person and virtual appointments available.

Provides domestic violence intervention which consists of crisis and peer counseling, risk assessment, safety planning, domestic violence education, court accompaniment, legal advocacy and referrals, peer support groups and other related support resources for the clients and their family. STAND! has offices in Central, East and West counties, as well as services and shelters at confidential locations. Volunteers are used extensively.

Licenses skilled nursing facilities, ESRD, primary care clinics, surgical clinics, hospitals, immediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled and in-home health care. Center for Health Care Quality’s (CHCQ) Licensing and Certification Program is the oversight body and investigates complaints. Gives information on licensed facilities to the public. Anyone can file a complaint against a health-care facility, a patient or facility resident, a relative or friend, even a general member of the public.

Protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations (businesses) and from hate violence and human trafficking in accordance with the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Unruh Civil Rights Act, Disabled Persons Act, and Ralph Civil Rights Act. Special Free Wills Clinic and Consult-an-Attorney Programs conducted at selected Senior Centers throughout the County; Pro Bono Program conducted to assist in placing eligible clients with private attorneys where possible. Contra Costa Senior Legal Services does not provide assistance in Criminal Law, Family Law (with the exception of elder abuse), Immigration Law, Personal Injury, Probate or Tax matters. Provides information, referrals, assistance, understanding and hope to persons of all ages with disabilities as well as elderly individuals for the purpose of helping them to live as independently as possible. Services include: advocacy, benefits assistance, housing assistance, employment services, peer counseling services, assistance with independent educational planning (IEPs for school-aged youth), life skills, ADA information, public & businesses education. Referrals and resources are provided for: assistive technology, agencies serving the disabled, transportation, and youth programs. Advocacy services to increase access to services, benefits, and other social services and advising clients regarding their rights. Housing referral services assist clients by maintaining a registry of accessible, adaptable, affordable apartments and houses. Peer counseling is available to disabled individuals, their families, and friends. In depth individual skills development can be provided within the peer-counseling group or on a one-to-one basis. A small lending library of equipment is available.
