English as a Second Language | Mt. Diablo Adult Education
Provides a variety of ESL classes: Basic ESL classes, English for Specific Purposes, Citizenship, ESL/Family Literacy/CBET Programs in various locations in Central and East County. Some locations have a pre-school and/or babysitting while adult attends class. Open enrollment is based on space available. All students are assessed for their level of literacy and English proficiency to ensure appropriate level placement.

English as a Second Language | Diablo Valley Literacy Council
Offers private, confidential, individualized ADULT ESL (English As Second Language) one-to-one instruction. Private tutors teach reading, writing and speaking English. The lesson starts at whatever level the English learner is at and takes consideration of individual goals. Both tutor and student set meeting times convenient for both. Students who are in need of computers, phones and on-line technology may receive assistance in order to enhance the learning process. All learning is completely confidential. Volunteers participate in a training program, commit to volunteer about 1-2 hours/week, must be able to read, write, and speak English well. Literacy Council Produces a newsletter, distributes brochures and has speakers available.
