Peer Counseling | Senior Peer Counseling Program - CCHS

Provides individual counseling to residents of Contra Costa County who are age 55+. Counseling service is provided by trained volunteers who are 55+ and usually occurs in the home or at a senior center location, once a week for an hour, for a duration of 8-12 weeks. Offers counseling services in Spanish, and English. Due to COVID-19, all services rendered are via telehealth. Wisdom Circle Groups paused due to COVID-19.

Provides a a virtual service where teens and young adults can get confidential one-to-one support sessions via video, audio or chat from a peer mentor of choice. Mentors are individuals who share clients identity, background, and/or lived experiences, and has been trained to help others going through something similar. Mentors (ages 18-35) come from very diverse backgrounds (over 50% identify as LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC) and have firsthand experience with a wide range of mental health challenges ranging from anxiety and depression to addiction, trauma, eating disorders, evolving gender/sexual identity and more. Also offers peer-led group sessions on selected topics.

Peer Counseling | Independent Living Resource (ILR) - Pittsburg

Provides information, referrals, assistance, understanding and hope to persons of all ages with disabilities as well as elderly individuals for the purpose of helping them to live as independently as possible. Services include: advocacy, benefits assistance, housing assistance, employment services, peer counseling services, assistance with independent educational planning (IEPs for school-aged youth), life skills, ADA information, public & businesses education. Referrals and resources are provided for: assistive technology, agencies serving the disabled, transportation, and youth programs. Advocacy services to increase access to services, benefits, and other social services and advising clients regarding their rights. Housing referral services assist clients by maintaining a registry of accessible, adaptable, affordable apartments and houses. Peer counseling is available to disabled individuals, their families, and friends. In depth individual skills development can be provided within the peer-counseling group or on a one-to-one basis. A small lending library of equipment is available.

Provides a source of information and support for people with MS, their families, friends and professionals involved in their care. Conducts educational programs for professionals, has peer counselors who provide information and emotional support and maintains a lending library. Also has a network of support groups throughout the chapter territory, provides grants for respite, and participates in government advocacy. Peer Counseling | American Cancer Society - Alameda

Provides support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. Trained volunteers who have had surgery for breast cancer, either lumpectomy or mastectomy, are matched to patients and help with emotional, physical and cosmetic needs. May be referred by a health professional or may self refer to ACS.

Peer Counseling | Sikh Family Center

Offers a free and confidential, non-emergency nationwide bilingual helpline in Punjabi and English, answered by peer volunteers. Supports community members facing threats to health, safety and or security. Creates and disseminates community centered bilingual resources and programming to change social and cultural conditions that allow violence to occur. Offers training and technical assistance to Sikh and non-Sikh organizations at the intersections of faith, gendered violence and community-based solutions.

Provides a variety of services for burn/fire survivors including: camps for children, young adults and adults supportive services, back-to-school program to help burn survivors with scars return to school, workshops and conferences.
