Provides free legal services for Contra Costa seniors age 60+ including advice, counsel and representation in civil legal matters, such as: elder abuse, consumer matters, housing, income maintenance as well as advance health care directives and durable power of attorney. Special Free Wills Clinic and Consult-an-Attorney Programs conducted at selected Senior Centers throughout the County; Pro Bono Program conducted to assist in placing eligible clients with private attorneys where possible. Contra Costa Senior Legal Services does not provide assistance in Criminal Law, Family Law (with the exception of elder abuse), Immigration Law, Personal Injury, Probate or Tax matters. Provides legal information and provides presentations to community groups Advance Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, and Prevention of Elder Abuse.

Provides legal assistance, information, and representation to individuals who have been arrested or cited for misdemeanor offenses from the time that they have had police contact through the Early Representation Program. Provides interdisciplinary case management and navigation services to individuals to ensure timely and coordinated access to a client-centered array of housing, behavioral health, transportation, and legal services at time of initial law enforcement contact. Provides community-based solutions to programs for alternatives to custody and develop re-entry plans by communicating directly with clients and members of their support systems. Works with clients to identify alternatives to incarceration such as substance abuse treatment, mental health treatment or connections with re-entry case management programs throughout Contra Costa County. Provides incarcerated, convicted, and sentenced individuals access to different kinds of post-conviction relief and resentencing, made available through recent state legislation.

Provides advocacy and legal representation on disability claims for Social Security disability benefits claims that have been denied.
