Provides grant funding for qualified City of San Pablo residents to enroll in career training for construction and carpentry, information technology, barbering, and commercial driver's license. Awards financial aid for City of San Pablo residents enrolled in one of eight Career Technical Education programs at Contra Costa College and partially funds childcare for working residents through the college's Early Learning Center. In addition to funding career training, the San Pablo EDC prepares job seekers to attain and retain employment through free career development workshops, free business attire and financial education. Recruits and provides foster family certification to enable families to be eligible to provide a crisis home for youth needing a safe environment for youths, ages 0 to 17, who are experiencing crisis while NCFC counselors work with the youth and family to reunite them, or develop mutually agreed upon alternatives. Also provides Long-term Foster care for children referred by Social Services in Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano counties. To be eligible, family must possess the ability to relate effectively to and adequately supervise youth, have space to temporarily house one or more young people, possess the ability to be certified by the NCFC as a Foster Family, and pass child abuse and criminal background checks.
