The CalFresh program is a nutrition assistance program in which eligible low income households can purchase food at participating grocery stores with the use of an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card that looks like a credit or debit card. Someone can be eligible if they own a home, have no children, are working, own a vehicle, or have no permanent address. Provides emergency shelter and interim, non-congregate housing for single adults. In addition to providing basic needs of shelter, shower, food, and clothing, the program includes care coordination and housing location services assisting residents with move-in and short term rental assistance where appropriate. In addition to housing, employment, and clinical support services, the program offers on-site health care services provided by the county and linkages to legal aid and other social and human resource services.

Supports child care programs by facilitating and increasing access to care. Family recertifications and eligibility will continue. Provides free services related to child care to parents/guardians and child care professionals in Central Contra Costa County. Services include assistance with finding and selecting child care and family resources, guidance and support applying for subsidized child care, technical assistance to child care professionals, child care needs assessment upon request, and parent education opportunities.

Students may enroll in full day, morning, or afternoon only.

Trains and educates people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities about their rights under state and federal disability rights laws so they can use the laws as tools to challenge exclusion and discrimination, and advocate effectively for full participation in the lives of their communities. Serves as co-counsel and prepare amicus curiae briefs on behalf of parties that include disability community representatives and members of Congress in disability rights cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court and an impact on decision making process.

Provides financial assistance for children who lack financial support. Families that qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month for basic needs.

Provides older adult support groups. Groups include: Cycling, Mah-Jongg, Bazaar, Bingo, Trivia Fan-Atics, Walking, Singing, Hooked on Books and Investment discussion.

Provides application processing for General Assistance relief for qualifying individuals. Program provides job assessment, job training and job search assistance. Individuals who are able-bodied and able to work may receive General Assistance for no more than three months in a twelve-month period. Works to improve and expand services to people with developmental disabilities and their families. Major Council activities include: identifying unmet needs and gaps in services, and working to develop services to meet these needs, providing opportunities for coordination of efforts and services, providing information about community resources and making referrals to appropriate agencies, identifying priorities, offering consultation, technical assistance, and training to agencies, professionals, parents, and the general public, liaison with legislative and governmental entities, publishing bulletins, newsletters, informational & education materials; and serving as an advocate for persons with developmental disabilities and their families.

Offers Refugee Cash Assistance Program which provides cash assistance for qualifying refugees (for 8 months from date of entry) and Asylees (for 8 months from date asylum is granted). Trafficking and victims of severe crimes (TCVAP), including non-citizen victims of domestic violence, who have applied for a U-Visa may also qualify to receive benefits. Provides an adult day program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who may also have specialized health care needs. The program supports individuals to make choices about their daily activities including the use of augmentative communication devices. If necessary a Registered Nurse is available to provide specific health care training to staff.

Raises funds for Hospice of the East Bay and for patients who are uninsured or under-insured through direct donations, car donations, Appraisal and Estate sales and through five (6) thrift shop in Alamo, Concord, Danville, Martinez, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek.
