The program, with 55 consumers with a consumer to staff ratio of 15 to 1, is designed to provide consumers with vocational skills and paid work experience that will enable them to work productively and independently.

Provides free, confidential, one-on-one basic instruction in reading, writing, and spelling to adults who can converse in English. Instruction is provided by trained volunteers. Adult learner/tutor pairs meet twice a week, for an hour and a half each time at libraries or other public locations throughout Contra Costa County. Trains volunteer tutors three times per year.
