The wildlife hospital is open daily to accept injured or orphaned native wild animals.

Provide dental treatment and oral care to patients of all ages. Focuses primarily on low-income patients in need of emergency dental care. Provides exam, X-ray, cleaning, fillings, crowns, root canal, partial, bridges, extraction, and dentures. Uses a lottery system, which prioritizes patients based on financial eligibility, oral health needs, and the urgency of dental needs. Legal immigration status is not required for income-eligible patients.

Provides a variety of animal services which include dog licensing and leash enforcement, spay/neuter services and immunizations, adoption, impoundment of stray animals including livestock and rabies control (quarantine and bite reports), animal rescue and rattlesnake calls. Provides dead animal pick-up and disposal, limited service for injured or sick wildlife. Offers public information and education for schools and community groups regarding safe handling and humane care of animals and pet emergency preparedness.

Administers the federal government website which provides information from various government agencies on what bullying is, what cyberbullying is, who is at risk, and how you can prevent and respond to bullying. Coordinates closely with the Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention Steering Committee, an effort led by the Department of Education that works to coordinate policy, research, and communications on bullying topics. Provides mental health/wraparound/psychiatry services to children and youth ages 5 through 18 who are West Contra Costa residents, including early intervention for children, birth to 5.

Individual can consult with counselors about a wide range of Medicare-related issues, including how to reduce premium and prescription drug costs and how to appeal a denial by an HMO or Part D plans. Answers questions about insurance choices, Medicare rights and protections, payment denials and appeals, complaints about care or treatment, and Medicare bills.

Offers free professional advice in commercial agriculture, home landscape, vegetable gardening, pest management, wildfire protection, range management, nutrition, food safety and youth development. Publishes several newsletters related to these topics. Training programs for volunteers include Master Gardener. Free informational leaflets available. Administers the 4-H Youth Program for Contra Costa County.

Provides in-home visits for families who are pregnant or parenting children ages 0-5 or upon entering Kindergarten. Program services include child development milestone education, mental/physical health education/support, social emotional growth, nutrition and wellness education and support, strengthening caregivers-child attachment, and connecting families to local resources.

Licenses Home Care Organizations including processing applications, receiving and responding to complaints and conducting unannounced visits to ensure compliance. HCSB is also responsible for the Home Care Aide application process and maintenance of the Home Care Aide Registry.

Offers a variety of exercise/fitness classes for children, teens and adults. Classes include, Yoga, Tai chi and Meditation. Classes may fill up fast or may be cancelled depending on registration.

Provides free outpatient surgeries to patients who have no insurance coverage. A network of collaborating hospitals and volunteer medical professionals provide minor outpatient surgery free of charge throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California. A referral from the treating physician must be obtained and after the post-operative appointment, the patient returns to the referring clinic for ongoing medical care. Serves lunch meals to seniors age 60+ who call in advance to make a reservation.

Provides safe, confidential housing for survivors of domestic violence and trafficking. Services include: multilingual, multicultural women's program, children's program, intensive case management, individual and group support, fun activities, provision of necessities, and connections to outside resources. The average stay for AWS residents is 12 weeks months with possible extended time. The shelter location is confidential.

Provides free legal services for Contra Costa seniors age 60+ including advice, counsel and representation in civil legal matters, such as: elder abuse, consumer matters, housing, income maintenance as well as advance health care directives and durable power of attorney. Special Free Wills Clinic and Consult-an-Attorney Programs conducted at selected Senior Centers throughout the County; Pro Bono Program conducted to assist in placing eligible clients with private attorneys where possible. Contra Costa Senior Legal Services does not provide assistance in Criminal Law, Family Law (with the exception of elder abuse), Immigration Law, Personal Injury, Probate or Tax matters. Provides legal information and provides presentations to community groups Advance Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, and Prevention of Elder Abuse.
