Veterans seeking help can dial 988 and press one to talk to a counselor. An online chat service for veterans in emotional distress is also available at http://veteranscrisisline.net. Veterans can chat online anonymously with a counselor 24 hours daily. Friends and family members of a veteran in crisis are also welcomed to use Veterans Chat. The cohort-based program includes 12 weeks of computer and life skills classes, followed by a 4-month paid internship, job placement assistance, and alumni career support. Recruit for the Administrative Career Training program is three times per year; January, May, and September.

Provides identification of ticks and biting or stinging pest samples submitted by Contra Costa County residents. Contra Costa County Residents may send a tick or pest sample to the District’s office at 155 Mason Circle, Concord, CA 94520 or drop the sample off in person. The District’s laboratory staff will identify the tick or other biting or stinging insect and let the resident know the results. If the pest is a tick and the resident wishes to have the tick tested for Lyme disease, the District can provide a list of local laboratories that will conduct Lyme disease testing. Since April 1, 2010, the District no longer tests ticks for Lyme disease that are brought in by the public.

Provides funding to help Bay Area homeowners and landlords replace their residence's wood-burning heating device with a qualifying electric heat pump or natural gas or propane fueled device. Offers incentive to help residents decommission their fireplace.
