Recruits and provides foster family certification to enable families to be eligible to provide a crisis home for youth needing a safe environment for youths, ages 0 to 17, who are experiencing crisis while NCFC counselors work with the youth and family to reunite them, or develop mutually agreed upon alternatives. Also provides Long-term Foster care for children referred by Social Services in Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano counties. To be eligible, family must possess the ability to relate effectively to and adequately supervise youth, have space to temporarily house one or more young people, possess the ability to be certified by the NCFC as a Foster Family, and pass child abuse and criminal background checks.

St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County hosts a free Thanksgiving dinner for community members. In partnership with Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa, the event provides a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings and hot chocolate. Warm coats will also be distributed to attendees. Medicare benefits including Prescription Drug Plan Coverage, low income plans, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplemental options, Medicare Savings Programs Medicare and Medi-Cal (dually eligible) benefits, and long-term care insurance. HICAP provides information on long-term care planning and issues concerning long-term care. HICAP can also assist with referring Medicare matters involving Medicare appeals or insurance that require legal support.
