Provides groceries to low-income Antioch residents, age 55+. Participants are eligible to receive groceries twice a month. Individuals receive a bag with fresh fruit and vegetables, and canned food. To apply, pick up an application at the distribution site or contact the Food Bank.

Provides a youth development program for boys and girls, K-19, that focuses on citizenship, leadership and life skills. Projects are hands-on, researched based and fun. The program is administered by the University of California, a land-grant institution. Contra Costa's program is offered via eleven community clubs and in collaboration with after-school programs.

Acts as the liaison between a pregnant woman and the services needed to provide the child a healthy start and the mother a healthy pregnancy. Coordinates initial prenatal appointment and referrals to programs for pregnant women i.e. WIC. Makes referrals as needed, offers genetic counseling, prenatal testing, brief counseling on substance abuse issues and community outreach.

Provides a program to issue a maximum of $1,500 to eligible participants who have obtained a job or received a documented offer of employment, and need to move closer to work, child care, or public transportation. Provides psychosocial and educational support to cancer patients and their caregivers as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment. Offers a variety of support groups, educational workshops, stress reduction classes, social events and programs available for children of cancer patients. Support groups and healthy lifestyle educational workshops available in Spanish. Some services are offered in Antioch, Vallejo, Castro Valley, and San Ramon.

Provides housing counseling services, including confidential mortgage default and delinquency counseling to families who are in danger of losing their homes through foreclosure or eviction. Does not provide rental assistance, unlawful detainers, nor filing paperwork for eviction but presents options on how to respond to eviction notices. Offers mediation of tenant/landlord disputes, referrals to tenant organizations, tenant/landlord rights, legal counseling, and fair housing counseling. Offers a free and confidential, non-emergency nationwide bilingual helpline in Punjabi and English, answered by peer volunteers. Supports community members facing threats to health, safety and or security. Creates and disseminates community centered bilingual resources and programming to change social and cultural conditions that allow violence to occur. Offers training and technical assistance to Sikh and non-Sikh organizations at the intersections of faith, gendered violence and community-based solutions.

Provides subsidized-HUD independent living apartments for seniors, 55+; some low-income units.

Provides financial assistance for childcare services to families in Contra Costa County. Full-day and part-day, full-year and part-year programs available. Programs are monitored and staff is offered ongoing education classes. In most cases, staff is able to communicate with children and parents in their first language. Childcare is provided to the neediest families first. Depending on need, the wait could be as little as a day or more than a year. Offers Child Care programs for families currently receiving CalWorks or have received within the last two years.

Offers opportunities for individuals to become a certified nursing assistant. The cohort-based program includes classroom training of 12-weeks in a healthcare skills lab with hand-on training in a skilled nursing facility. Followed by a 4-month paid internship, job placement assistance, and alumni career support.

Provides a variety of programs for families with young children, age 0-5. Offers a place where clients can connect with each other, learn, and get access to community resources. Once registered at a First 5 Center, families can begin to choose from over 20 classes (in person/virtual) each session full of fun activities for families, parenting classes, workshops for adults, etc. All services are free. Provides drop-in playtime, Saturday classes, monthly events, and classes focused on dads. Families can meet with a Community Resource Specialist to be connected to resources or for parenting tips. Provides a national, 24-hour, and toll-free suicide prevention service for veterans who are in a suicidal crisis who are seeking help. Veterans seeking help can dial 988 and press one to talk to a counselor. An online chat service for veterans in emotional distress is also available at http://veteranscrisisline.net. Veterans can chat online anonymously with a counselor 24 hours daily. Friends and family members of a veteran in crisis are also welcomed to use Veterans Chat. Provides a support group for individuals between the ages of 9-30 years, who are affected by HD either by being at-risk, tested positive, tested negative, or are a friend or family member dealing with HD. Support groups meet in El Cerrito.

Provides current Contra Costa County Medi-Cal and CalFresh clients with assistance reporting Medi-Cal and CalFresh changes (such as a new address, income, newborn, etc.), answers about benefits, and assistance completing forms. Offers benefit information for dental care.

Provides technology access for adults and children with disabilities including services that support adults in finding and retaining jobs and creating accessible work environments, with school districts to ensure that children with disabilities have access to assistive technology, including computers, that work for them; with seniors to assist them in the right assistive technology, with the California Department of Rehabilitation to provide computer access evaluations and equipment recommendations to their clients, and with organizations and business to provide creative and cost effective solutions to work site access issues geared toward assisting adults with disabilities in employment situations.

Provides a web based service to help people find assistance and information, work better with an attorney, and represent themselves in some legal matters. Some of the areas for legal information involve hundreds of tools, resources and links for legal assistance in the areas needed by self-represented litigants, including divorce, domestic violence, child custody/support, traffic, and claims. It includes links to legal services organizations and lawyer referral programs where litigants can get legal advice and additional assistance, along with easy to understand descriptions of court proceeding, and step by step guides to court forms.

Provides a diagnostic work-up for those who are experiencing significant memory problems. Diagnostic results and recommendations for patient care and care giving are presented to the family after all laboratory and clinical information is obtained, the patient evaluated, and the team has had a chance to discuss the patient's results in a case conference. Licenses Home Care Organizations including processing applications, receiving and responding to complaints and conducting unannounced visits to ensure compliance. HCSB is also responsible for the Home Care Aide application process and maintenance of the Home Care Aide Registry.

Provides hotline runaway and homeless youth offering shelter options, mediation, information and referral, and phone or in-person counseling. Provides free, immediate help to youth ages 0-17, including immediate housing in a foster home, crisis counseling, family mediation, transportation and referrals. Center is a Safe Place site. If a longer stay is needed, the youth would likely be placed in a foster home for shelter. SAFE Place is not a long-term shelter.
