Provides a special need payment to meet their costs for temporary housing. The maximum Temporary Homeless Assistance payment is based on size of the CalWORKs family and is for a maximum of 16 days. Homeless Assistance is available once in a 12-month period unless the family is homeless due to domestic violence, natural disaster, inhabitable living conditions, or a physical or mental disability. All exceptions must be verified by a third party agency. Provides Homeless Assistance Grant, a rental payment paid directly to the landlord to prevent loss of housing or eviction by eligible families due to financial hardship or circumstances beyond their control, not for lease violations. This assistance would be for a rent arrearage of up to two months or $1,500, whichever is less.
