Partners with Family Justice Center to provide virtual workshops.

Provides an online toolkit to help individuals stay in their homes, by fighting eviction and debt. Online tool has extensive information to support individuals who need to respond to an unlawful detainer or small claims lawsuits. Connects users to tenant organizations across California, as well as tenant unions and build collective power over both landlords and government.

Provides on the job training for individuals with employment barriers. Transitional employment program offers paid on the job skills training combined with workshops to develop personal and vocational growth. Programs offered: retail sales donation customer service material handling, processing of textile and hard goods, and truck driving. Sites are located throughout Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties.

Provides mental health services to children and youth ages 5 through 18 who are Central/South Contra Costal residents including early intervention for children and wraparound services. Special intervention for children under 5, call main number for information.

Continues to provide Community Produce Program, Food Assistance Program (commodity food) and Food for Children program through the Contra Costa Food Bank. Offers exercise classes for adults, teens including aerobics and zumba. Community pool is open on weekends only 12pm-5pm.

Provides assistance to eligible aged, blind and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without this assistance. IHSS is an alternative to out-of-home-care. Each case is reviewed annually and includes a yearly visit by a social worker to the client's home. The provider may be a relative or friend if desired. The provider's wages are paid twice per month after the work has been performed.

Provides information, referrals, resources, and follow-up services to assist families and caregivers impacted by the sleep-related death of an infant under 12 months in Contra Costa County. Offers community educational activities, expands awareness about SIDS/SUID and safe sleep recommendations. The program may be available to provide trainings on safe sleep to community groups, childcare professionals, health providers, and others.

Provides hotline runaway and homeless youth offering shelter options, mediation, information and referral, and phone or in-person counseling. Provides free, immediate help to youth ages 0-17, including immediate housing in a foster home, crisis counseling, family mediation, transportation and referrals. Center is a Safe Place site. If a longer stay is needed, the youth would likely be placed in a foster home for shelter. SAFE Place is not a long-term shelter.

Allows a parent or person with lawful custody to surrender a baby legally, confidentially and safely surrender their baby within 3 days of birth, without fear of arrest or prosecution for child abandonment. This law allows for at least a 14-day cooling off period, which begins the day the child is voluntarily surrendered. During this period, the person who surrendered the child can call EHSD and present the uniquely coded identification bracelet that was provided at the time of the safe surrender. Supported Employment: Offers a program which supports participants to obtain and maintain competitive integrated employment in the field of their choice. Participants receive individualized on-the-job coaching, including: full-time support through the training process that fades as the job and skills needed are learned; ongoing supports include advocacy with management; interpersonal skills in the workplace; learning new or additional work tasks; and managing stress. Employment Training Program: Provides a short-term program designed to provide participants with the skills, tools, and hands-on experience needed to gain competitive and integrated employment. In this program, participants will be supported to identify their desired job or career, hands-on learning and experience which will give skills necessary to be successful in that career, and job search support to get a job.
